Graphics are covered in the handout. The print materials guidelines apply to graphics. Only one graphic is copied

per book or periodical.

Scanned and multimedia material is to be retained by the student. Certain permissions may be granted. Please see me or the library staff if the occasion arises.

Do NOT scan a cartoon or article.

There are also issues pertaining to computer software, distance learning, and the school library. We don't have the time today to cover these, but you need to be aware of their existence. Please check with library or IT staff members if you have any questions.

There are a multitude of forms available in the library relating to copyright issues and permissions. There are also many in your books.

Special rules for retention of recorded programs:

They may only be kept for a maximum of 45 consecutive days. Students may only view the program during the first 10 school days. They may only see it twice: once for instruction and once for review. In the case of a missing or sick student, a makeup showing can be arranged in the library with the librarian, but only if within the first 10 days. During the remaining 35 days a teacher may use the program for evaluation to possibly purchase or request for permission to purchase.
To retain the program beyond the 45 days, explicit written permission must be given by the copyright holder.
Cable and satellite programs with limited school use may have different restrictions. Check program guides and periodicals on the program. The website Cable in the Classroom might be helpful as well.
